Peranakan culture is rich with symbols, crafts, heritage, and creativity. These elements not only inspire admiration but also enhance Singapore’s unique character with vibrant colors. This gift set, featuring 'Nyonya Portrait' placemats and 'Orchid Batik' coasters, adds joy and heighten mood to any gathering, making it a thoughtful gift for fostering connections with others.

'Nonya Portrait' is a modern interpretation of photography early Singapore Peranakans. Private portraits on film was a symbol of status in those era. Affluent Peranakans were among the first to afford family or personal photography by professional photographers, and such occasion was worthy of the effort dressing up in elaborate costumes and jewellery. This design is a collaboration with Singapore artist, Martin Loh, and the pattern is framed by scissors blades highlighting the rich and colourful textile design and art in Peranakan kebaya.

Inspired by the highly-admired Batik, an ancient technique and material that involve natural elements like beeswax, plant dyes, tools and heritage craftsmanship. This rhythmic 'Singapore Orchid Batik' pattern celebrates not only the interplay of nature and human in the making of this fabric, but also the relaxed, tropical feel batik always evokes. The dotted expression here pays homage to the canting, an etching tool for holding a small reservoir of hot wax, used to create lines and fine dots from which beautiful fabric designs emerge along with passion, dedication and creativity.
