Do you know that the golden era of Singapore cinema was between 1940s to 1970s when hundreds of films were filmed and produced in Singapore by two major film empires, Cathay Organisation and Shaw Brothers? More stories can be found on roots.gov.sg

In those days when air-conditioning was a luxury for most Singaporeans, a trip to the cinema was a big treat for the kid I was. In my early teen, my mum became fond of driving out for midnight movies after closing her clothing store, bringing my cousin and I along. Those late night movies, reserved normally for adults, always made me feel privileged and excited. The wonderful feeling of being initiated into a world of drama, kung fu, love stories or super powers, while holding with thrill a cone of kacang puteh in one hand and a can of soft drink in the other, is still palpable today. This collection of Singapore movie tickets brings back many sweet memories for me. We hope it sparks memories of joy for you too.
