‘Prosperity Kueh Tile x Peranakan Story’ Gift set
Festive occasions are the perfect time for friends and business partners to come together and celebrate. During Chinese New Year, the table is traditionally adorned with an array of auspicious foods and desserts, each carefully chosen to symbolize good fortune and prosperity for the year ahead. This thoughtfully crafted gift set not only enhances the celebratory spirit with its vibrant, eye-catching designs but also carries the promise of wealth and good luck through its symbolic motifs.
Through this fabric coasters with ‘WANG’ at the heart of a kaleidoscope of little good things, we wish our family, friends and business partners a Snake year filled with opportunities that will bring wealth and abundance. Food and good appetite are the essence of an abundant life, and that will most certainly include these well-loved Singaporean culinary treats – kueh tutu, pineapple tart, kueh dadar, peng kueh, ladoo, dumpling and otah-otah.
Peranakan Story plate is inspired by symbols found in many facets of Peranakan culture. Reflecting wealth and good fortune, these symbols are seen throughout Peranakan history on fabrics, china ware, furniture, jewelry and decor. As a brand that celebrates meaningful local narratives through patterns and colors, Onlewo draws on rich Peranakan design heritage for this inspiration. Sifting though old black-and-white Peranakan family photographs, courtesy of the Singapore Peranakan Museum, we discovered many significant cultural elements like the Kamcheng (covered vessel), Kasuk Manek (beaded sandals) and peacock motifs, which we respectfully reimagined in this contemporary pattern. ‘Peranakan Story’ is an endearing portrait of Singapore’s cultural treasure and beauty.
