The handsome Collared Kingfisher is thriving on our tropical island, and we have the good fortune of hearing their calls while strolling in parks and at the seaside, and being treated to bright flashes of their happy blue-and-white form among Singapore’s lush green scape. The Kingfisher Wetlands at the Gardens By The Bay, a tribute to this lovely feathered species, plays host to microhabitats of the aquatic and sky-bound kind and brings the idea of a city within nature to fruition.
